Well, the NFL trade deadline has come and gone, and as you might have guessed, nothing happened. Many Fantasy Football fans hoped big-name receivers like Alshon Jeffery, Brandon Marshall and Torrey Smith would be traded to playoff contenders; however, they were not.
With team’s now set for the home stretch, if you have the following five receivers, you are in a great position to finish strong, and it will show in Week 9.
Here are this week’s top five wide receivers:
In Week 1, Julio Jones had 66 yards and a touchdown versus the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. In Week 9, they face off again on Thursday Night Football, and Jones is in for an even bigger game.
Jones has scored double digits in five of the Atlanta Falcons eight games. He has three single-digit scoring games. Well, the first two times he had less than 10 points in a game, the following game, he scored 36 points and 19 points—his two highest scoring outings of the year.
In Week 9, following a single-digit scoring game, Jones will put up at least 20 points.
Word on the street is that Ben Roethlisberger will make a return in Week 9, and no one is happier about his return than Antonio Brown. The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently in first place in the AFC North, and a win against the Baltimore Ravens will begin to solidify their dominance.
If they are going to win, Brown will need to have a big game. If Big Ben plays, he will.
Dak Prescott is solidifying his role as the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Now that Dez Bryant is back, the Cowboys offense will just continue to improve.
Prescott and Bryant connected four times for 113 yards and a touchdown in Week 8, they face the Cleveland Browns. Yeah, they are going to put up big numbers again.
Cam Newton wants to throw the ball. If the Carolina Panthers are going to win, he is going to have to throw the ball often, and Kelvin Benjamin will be the recipient of many of Newton’s attempts.
Over the last four weeks, Benjamin has had at least 70 yards receiving or a touchdown. Well, in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams, Benjamin will have at least 70 yards receiving and at least one touchdown, which makes him a great play.
Jordy Nelson is still not 100 percent healthy, but it sure was nice to see him and Aaron Rodgers connect on a deep bomb in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons.
In Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, Nelson will continue to improve and show his Fantasy owners that he truly is healthy.
